Hello, blog. It’s been awhile. Let’s dust off the old keyboard and make friends for awhile.

I wasn’t planning on starting this blog back up again this year. I wasn’t thinking about it, at all, really. What – with a toddler who now has “his own iPad” because he couldn’t tolerate sharing one with his mom or dad. Lets just say that between babyhood, mommy hood, wifehood, parenthood and a full time remote job (thank you, universe!) writing wasn’t in the equation. Either are a lot of parts of me that I used to be all about. Singing. Acting. Swimming. But they all still exist in me somewhere. So, while the 3 of us sit on the couch looking at our devices, there is no reason one of those devices can’t be Me – Writing. Something I used to do all the time, and I think I still can.

I was fortunate enough to have the time to browse one of my long time favorite blogs late last week, One Mom In Maine. She is gently challenging her readers to join in on a 3 day juice cleanse. I’m all in. Do you want to know why?

— one of my 2013 resolutions was to juice more, and hey, it’s already April, so what am I waiting for?

— I need a topic to blog about that is outside the confines of my baby centered world.

— I used to be a vegetarian, and I’d like to get a little better at incorporating more veggies into my family’s diet. Yes, Max, you’ll be getting some spoonfuls of these drinks!

— since I work remotely I have total use of my kitchen, access to my fresh produce and can easily store my extra juice without bothering coworkers, or taking over The dreaded Office Fridge.

— it’s Spring and boating season. What a great way to rid my body of toxins and feel healthier!

So, I told my husband about this endeavor and took off to the only grocery store that could get me to where I needed to be by Monday morning … Wegmans. I tried to keep my list of ingredients modest, but ended up spending around $60 on supplies.

I am following recipes from a Juicing Book written by Elaine LaLanne, that I’ve had hanging around for years. I’ll showcase each juice recipe, I’ll make 3 different ones a day, but will keep drinking the extra servings throughout. Also, although I am a devoted coffee drinker — lately I’ve been all about the cream and sugar, so to give that a break, I’m going to enjoy a cup of Oolong tea in the morning, and maybe in evening, too. I also might get really crazy and bring out my favorite kundalini yoga DVD that I loved in college and give that a whirl since I read some interesting articles online about juicing and kundalini yoga. We’ll see about that one.
